The source is the vacuum tree on the the intake manifold. I think all ports are the same.
I also dont know if my car produces enough vacuum to operate it properly yet.
I put a gauge on my car, and it was in the teens (psi) at idle. I just googled for a generic spec for any/all engines and it was in the ball park.
I also ran into another little problem. The metal hose i purchased is too long, way too long, to fit the car. It has to be cut down by at least 12 inches probably more. I guess this is cut with a hacksaw? It appears to be made of aluminum. The metal is rather thin, but it seems to be sturdy unlike the old piece of junk that was on there before. It did fit on the exhaust manifold pipe nice tight fit.
It might work. If the hose is too flexible (and it doesn't sound like it) I'd go with some sort of tin snips. Maybe even a utility knife would work. Maybe try a couple of cuts in the area you know you'll need to be cut off, and see what works best?
Oh yes ok you gave me an idea, i can use the Dremel and a cutoff wheel, that would do a nice clean job without worry about ruining the pipe. Just have to get the length right.

I got the ports capped off now as per other ideas from members. It runs pretty nice like that maybe i should not mess with it now ha ha.

That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Oh, I bet that will work perfectly. I still recommend a test cut first, since you've got the extra material. Please don't forget to wear safety glasses... metal in the eye is no fun.

It sounds like your door in the airbox actually works, so I think it's a good idea to have the system functional. I do wonder how much it really does, Though. I don't like the idea of moisture in the air freezing in the throttle body, but I'd guess conditions have to be "just right", for that to happen.

Yes i am usually very careful about that stuff i was going to test on the end of the pipe first. I may even cut a little longer then size up again then cut again. That's because it's hard to judge the exact length due to the fact that it wont even fit in there at all.
I did practice on some soda cans already, i can get a nice clean cut.

Yes i have a good pair of safety goggles. They are full coverage too not just in front of the eyes. Nothing can get in from the sides either. Cristal clear lens too. They are made by DeWalt.
I've been especially careful after the cataract surgery.

Yes it may work but it's hard to test. It may work for a while, then cut out. Maybe that is why it kept stalling.
Yes moisture freezing in there would be a problem but i cant remember any other car i ever had needed something like that, although they had the carburetor mounted right on top of the engine not on the side. That could be the difference between those cars and this one.
