My 00 R runs much higher than that due to the aftermarket alarm system and so it is in the 45-50 mA range. So even if you are only getting 5 mA on a bad day, I would expect it to be able to keep it charged sufficient for starting for much longer than now. The brand I looked at was called Powoxi at Amazon. The one I linked is 7.5W but they do do them up to 20W. What I liked about this brand is the options that come with it and the rubber suction cups that stick to the windows. This link should hopefully take you to Amazon.com website:

Oh yes i never checked the drain because i would have to disconnect the battery.

But i meant to say i cant see the pic in your post. And if a link it's not working.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

It's my understanding that Optima batteries aren't what they used to be. If I recall correctly they got bought out a few years ago.

Likely the best solution to get you going again; with a bit of luck you'll have miles of motoring pleasure.

The question is, how do you find out why a monitor is not going ready even after a lot of driving?

There are times I feel like smacking my head really hard (my wife agrees that too :o   ).

I have a Volvo SC-816 audio unit which I pulled a few months back. With help from a friend at the local dealer, he was able to get me a code, after a false start as it was not the original radio sold with the car but a factory reconditioned unit. My friend found the code for that but it would not accept that either and locked me out again. That was when I started building a simple test system to allow me to power up the head units I have to make sure they:

1) Would power up
2) The codes I have worked as they should
3) If the unit was showing the 'OFF' on the screen rather than the 'CODE' message (code entered 3 times wrongly it locks you out), you have to leave the head unit in your car with the ignition on at II position for up to 2 hours or more to get it to reset to the CODE message. This allows me to do that without the need for a car and leaving the ignition on for long periods of time. Works great for that!

Anyway the code I had for the re-conditioned unit would not work. So we assumed the unit had gone bad (Volvo tech dept). Disappointed as the unit was nearly mint condition! Planned to then remove the front panel and transfer to a less well kept unit.

I contacted my friend today to get the code for another SC-816 I had to save, and while e-mailing him asked him to re-check the code for the other unit as I could not find any e-mail from him with that code. Turns out I got that code via a phone call and had transposed 2 of the numbers!! Ran down to the garage and tried again and it works! Yahoo!!

Now need to go get motivated on building the version 2.0 and then 3.0 system to test speakers and sound output, then to test amps and possibly even Dolby units too! When I say test, I mean they code, power up, bulbs all work and cassette/CD units function and all speaker outputs work. Also can test speakers to ensure they are good, then finally the amplifiers and cables for them.

I don't have any plans to try to fix or test internal components on failed units! That is waay passed my pay-grade! :D

Here is a picture of the unit with the bulbs replaced. Unit did not look molested with, but only had 3 bulbs fitted. Test system now updated to V 1.1 with switch for night-time lights which are normally controlled by the headlight switch and brightness rheostat.

This unit had 5/5 bulbs failed!

Well worth the effort!
