Ha ha ha, that's not a bad idea ha ha. Maybe even a knife stuck through the nipple part make a slice where the wire could fit through?
Actually not sure if that kind of plier would reach the nipple part well enough there is so much stuff in the way and the nipple thing is right behind that which makes it damn hard to get to. I had to take a hand mirror out there with me just to be able to see where it was so could try to reach up and grab it. Hurt my thumb too cut on some other contraption up there was a boat load of wires connecting to it. What the heck is that thing anyway.

I ended up running the wire up along the edge of the hood and into the car through the drivers side door jam. I had to do something because the sun was brighter than ever today and so i was getting high current around 1 amp and it was giving me false voltage readings with the telemetry because the solar panel would raise the voltage at the OBDII connector and that did not reflect the actual battery voltage because of the voltage drop between the OBDII connector and the battery.

Oh well, at least i got to play with some nipples today :-)

Hello again,

I forgot to mention i ran into Robert DIY video about this he posted some years ago, and linked to this section in 2017 after i asked about it then.

I cant believe it has been that long since i first started thinking about running this wire.

He goes into detail about the nipple things but i have to say he makes it look easy :-)

So next i am going to try to slice the nipple thing on the interior of the car and push the wire through that way. I think i can get the one in the engine compartment off, but if not, i guess i'll just cut it off as suggested.

Now that i think about it, maybe i should run a AWG #8 gauge wire set through (ha ha). Well, at least #10 anyway.
I dont need it right now though, but once i get the first wire through i can just use that to pull a heavier gauge through at a later date if i need that. Right now #16 seems to work pretty well and i have it installed in a temporary fix and it performs much, much better than running through the OBDII wiring, which was disappointing.
The heavier gauge would be nice for a power inverter maybe sometime in the future.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.

The interior cap had fallen off for me. The one in the engine bay popped off easy, but was a pain to get back on for some reason.

There's also this hole in the fuse box, if they're not occupied by relays like on mine. How you run the wire to the fuse box will be up to you.

Hello there,

Oh that's interesting. I'll have to check that on mine. If i remember right though i think i have a relay there.
Or is that a view from the inside of the car?

I'll check soon thanks.

You don’t want to pull that nipple off, just guide the wire through it with a messenger.

There is plenty of room to drop down through the fusebox into the interior dash, see those cool fuse takeoffs that Dirk put us onto in this thread……and someone close to you in NJ wrote it up here….

Hello again and thanks for the reply.

So which fuse box is that? It is the one with all the little blade fuses or the one with the fuel pump relay? Or maybe the one with the big relays?

Thanks i think this will be easier.

Just wondering, why not cut off the nipple thing is there something not good about doing that?
I was planning on just putting a slice in it so the wires would slip through, but still wondering about that just in case i have to do that.

It's the lid behind the fuse box (under the hood, next to the driver side hood hinge). There are 3 or 4 torx screws that need to be removed. And maybe the seal strip. 103 is the fuel relay, should be fairly easy to find.

Oh THAT one, thanks.

I am very familiar with that one from the days of fixing my fuel pump relay.
This could work out very well.

Hi,

Well mine has relays. Two relays there so no view to the inside.

I have one open hole, but there is a ton of wires under it and it does not look like it goes anywhere under there.
I had a flashlight and had shone it up inside the car and i could not see the light at all through that one open hole.

So it looks like i wont be able to go through the fuse box without extensive modifications.
So back to the nipple tube.
