My 1990 240 wagon auto trans (230k miles) starts OK when cold. But when warm, it will turn over, crank, etc, but not start. (Oddly, sometimes jumping it would get it started, but it failed a few times too and a new battery hasn't solved the problem).
I tried injector cleaner, cleaned the battery terminals, checked and cleaned fuses (fuses in the cabin AND near the power stearing fluid pump), new plugs, wires and distributor look good and clean, new fuel pump relay.
Car used to run OK, no major misfiring, but not too strong without higher idle. Sometimes stalled when I put it in gear.
Today I noticed that when cold I could hear the fuel pump noise under trunk - the car started fine. After running car for about a minute, I tried again - no fuel pump noise and no start.
240 hard start when warm

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
Other things to check are fuel pressure and that the injectors are not leaking.
Your car is fitted with an on-board diagnostic unit which will show up faults in the fuel and ignition systems.
To find out more see: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/p ... c&start=12
This covers your car as well as the 740, 940 and 960. Some of the fault codes may be different for the non-turbo but if you turn up anything you don't understand post back.
Bill.

I noticed that even with a new fuel relay there was no "click" when I turned the ignition. I had a mechanic fix it. Turned out there was a ground problem and my computer is likely not functioning well either. He fixed it up and the cars runs now.
