98 V70 can't get door adjusted Topic is solved

So I've just spent the better part of 4 hours trying to adjust my driver's door so it won't hit on the bottom seal and lines up with the catch. The door card is hitting on the bottom in the middle to front area. But on the outside, it looks like the door is sitting a little high relative to the rear door. The latch was also hitting on the bottom of the catch. I loosened the 4 hinge bolts and the 2 catch bolts (which I wished I realized could be adjusted way earlier). All I've managed to do was make it way worse. I finally got it close enough I can close the door, but the gaps are all messed up now. Now it looks like the door is too far forward, too low in the front and too high in the back. Has a pinky sized gap when closed (not closed all the way). Anyone got any hints or tricks for adjusting the driver's door? I seriously can't figure it out. I can only substantially worsen the situation.

All Volvo hinges seems to be of the same design. Adjustments are made on the hinges and striker only. Make sure the door hinges are not worn and the door has no movement. See the first 3 minutes of this video.

Make sure the car chassis is on level ground. Make sure to sharpy the hinges and striker before you begin regardless where it is now. Mark an even line around the hinge then four lines NSWE. Loosen the hinges and striker just enough for some movement per video.

Looking at the back door hinge, first photo, the whole door can go up and down while the top and bottom moves in and out. The door can't move forward to the left nor back to the right if you facing it. Adjust as close as possible and tighten the striker end first and then use that as the pivot for the front hinge adjustments. Understanding the door movement when closed will help you adjust accordingly.

1) Rear hinge when door is closed for movement reference. This is key!
2) If the door or chassis is not within spec you may have to angle the striker slightly for smooth entry while shifting slightly up or down to close.
3) Front door hinge for reference

It still doesn't seem quite right, but I think it is close enough now. Thank you! I think the chassis/ body might be slightly warped and that's why I was having so much trouble. I spent more time on this then I care to admit.

While pumping gas at Costco yesterday I noticed the top aft of the passenger rear door is slightly not flush

. Decided it was good enough for now. Like adjusting kitchen cabinets door it can be interesting and time consuming for awhile till you get the "hang of it". The chassis could be a little tweaked or the door itself might not be perfect.
