Speedometer head 1995 940 turbo!

Post by okeetee »

.....well, it just wasn't the capacitor....the whole thing was fried! So now what are my options? I think the easiest and cheapest would be to get a new/used speedometer head that could be inserted behind the cluster, right? I don't need the whole cluster, just the head. My question now is who sells them? Anybody got a link where they have had success getting a speedometer head? Is the 1995 model interchangeable with any of the other models or years?

I think you are going to be restricted to the '95 and '96 models of the 940 as part numbers before and after are different.

You could try http://www.erievovo.com/.

Apparently it is better to telephone rather than email.

I looked up your speedometer at www.car-part.com and it listed only 95 940 w/ turbo to fit. There were several listed. Hope this helps.

Well, it looks like I've finally caught a break on this Speedometer saga! I've got a junkyard sending me one for $70 bucks the whole cluster in great shape, shipping included! Now, another question: Is there something I need to know so that when it gets put in, it works without any problems? I understand that Volvo and other car dealers have some kind of "clip" that is used to prevent tampering with the odometer....and I don't want to have any problems with it when I swap it out! Anybody out there that can shed any light on this issue??? You guys have been great!
