for my 1998 S70? I'm having the work done at a Volvo specialist (not a dealership), and he's generally competitively priced, but I don't know how much one (installed) should run - any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Allison
How much should I expect to pay for a new airflow sensor

These almost never go bad. Many are replaced because they are dirty and throw out an error code so the parts chager will pull the part and stick in a new one. If you have a slightly skilled parts changer he will spray some throttle body cleaner which rapid freezes the sensor destroying it. A mechanic will clean it as part of regular maitenance.
I have to clean mine every time I put too much oil in my K&N filter. The excess oil will coat the sensor causing it to give a code. I can pull the sensor and gently clean it with alcohol and que-tip. I then reset the code and have no further problems until I over oil my filter the next time I clean it.
It takes 10 minutes to change out. Less than 5 to reset you check engine light.

I have a mustang as well and can use electronics cleaner (comes in a can at radioshack) to clean the MAF. Does not leave residue.
