Hello there,
There are a lot fo knowledgeable people on this site that know a lot about Volvos, even the 1998. It's surprising that so many people are deeply into these cars. So i hope someone can give me some good information on this.
The weather will be getting warmer soon and so i hope to do more on my 1998 v70. I have some electrical things to finish up but then after that i'd like to dig deeper into the repairs on this car.
I ran into Vida and Dice again in one of Matts posts, and i have to say i am more interested in that now. I know i have asked some questions in the past about this but that was probably 6 years ago so dont remember much about it, and at that time i didnt thing these two items would make much difference.
So the question is, would these two things help me diagnose problems with my 1998 v70. In particular, would it be able to tell me why the OBDII monitors will not go ready? I was under the impression that they were ready, but a quick test with my OBDII meter tells me that NONE of them are ready. Well, almost none. There are 6 monitors not ready. That includes oxygen, cat, etc., and secondary air system (SAS i guess we use for the abbreviation). This is really strange, but i need a way to figure out why they wont go ready even after 100's of miles and various town driving.
It's funny too because i can hear the SAS air pump running and that's when it usually does the SAS test and maybe another test, but the SAS monitor still does not set, and this was after many runs.
So i need a way to find out why this is not working. Will Vida and Dice help with this? Im sort of at the end of the line here and need to do something to fix this.
Thanks much for any ideas or information. I havent actually thought about this in a line time.
Will Vida and Dice really help with my 1998 v70?

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Is the throttle body cable actuated or electronic ? The change happened somewhere near the end of 1998.
Throttle body cars are M4.4 ECU and wont work with VIDA afaik.
As the official Volvo tools are quite rare/expensive, the 2 main options for the home gamer are:
- android phone with the 850 OBD II app (4 bucks) + a bluetooth ELM327 (a good one, read the developper website https://xiaotec.fi/?a=10 )
- windows compteur with Vol-FCR (~150$ or a sail on the high seas) + a 10$ blue vag com kkl cable
Lots more infos on this website

ETM cars are ME7 and should work with VIDA

What scanner are you using?
Have you used the "850 OBD-II" Android app? The developer of that might have some useful input on the problem perhaps. (xanthefin on this forum.)

Al, that post of mine was not meant for this thread. I have no idea as to how it got there. I was posting it in another thread and then it disappeared when posting. Weird?? Bottom line, it has no relevance to you on this thread.
