Took the 850 out for a wash and an Italian tune-up (as best I could with traffic). It hasn't been out of the driveway (yard really) since last November. I had forgotten the rattle I can hear sometimes, and what I think is a bit of wheel bearing hum.

Once home I removed the sump splash guard, there wasn't a single drop of oil or water on it, it was as clean as the day I fitted it 3 years ago

Hi,

You have your own car lift?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

@ MrAl, Yes I have my own lift, I built the garage in 2008 nd had planning permission for a pit, but when I excavated the hole it filled with water due to the height of the water table, so I filled it in and installed a lift...

Old filter removed this morning and left to drain again for another hour, new filter primed and fitted, sump plug refitted with new washer, 5.3 litres of Castrol 10W-40 A3/B4 poured into the engine, checked for leaks and sump cover refitted, service light reset and we're ready for another summer, bring on the sunshine

Beautiful setup you have there ! I was going to go the pit route ( built one once before ), but 2 post lifts are much more affordable than they used to be, so that will end up being cheaper than the pit in the long run. 4 post is nice !

Pits are what I grew up working with. But here in Calgary where we have been for the last 20+ years, apparently people are too stupid to be allowed to own a garage work pit as they are likely to run the engines and gas themselves! Where we currently live a pit would not be an option either as we discovered a spring runs under this area so high water table and 3 sump pumps.

I have previously built 2 garages with the plan to install a hoist, but we moved before that could happen. So after 50+ years of planning and now retired the 3rd garage was built and this time a used hoist went in!

The original garage is under the rear of the house and not even 8 feet high. Door is just over 6ft!! So we built the new garage in front of the old garage and you can walk all the way into the house from the new garage. Old garage is to store the R over the winter and workshop for smaller bench type projects all year.

Very fortunate and forgiving wife! :D

Huge debates of the for and against 2 post and 4 post lifts. Only reason I went 4 post was I had a 1947 car at the time and I really didn't want to raise it on a 2 post lift
