With belt off, set the cams so the slots on the backs of the cams are horizontal, while the crank is on its mark. Then see where the marks on the sprockets are.

Thanks for your suggestion!
I did as you recommended but…after adjusting the cams so all is aligned and putting the belt back on, making one revolution of the crank shaft was almost smooth. When I got to a tough spot, I was able to push through with a lot of force, but then the camshafts would slip and end up in the same spot as shown in the photos.
I am not sure what to do next, except really tighten the camshaft bolts. Then I am unable to make a full revolution of the crank.
Not sure what to adjust at this point.
Appreciate your help!

The cams should not look identical in the rear. See many pictures in this forum.

I see the marks on the sprockets that are used for setting the timing. These marks are on the same side as the bolt heads of the bolts that hold the sprockets in place. The marks are visible in the photos above.
So, my question now is, are there other marks I should be looking for?
I’m not really sure what is meant by “the slots on the back of the cams”. Are you referring to the right side of the cylinder head where the distributor and rotor and cam sensor are located?
Trying to picture this in my mind!
Thanks for helping me out on this!

Yes, drivers side of the engine.
You may not need this tool, but shows what the cams should look like on that end of the engine.

Not sure why the intake sprocket has witness marks showing it moved. Were the sprockets taken off the motor at some point?

Ok, I think I figured it out!
I lined up the slots as seen in the above video.
Then made adjustments to the sprockets so the timing marks line up with those on the cover.
Now I can put the belt back on and see how well I am able to make the two revolutions on the crank. I will keep you posted.

I was able to make the revolutions on the crankshaft. I think I made 6 of them.
The intake cam is lined up well, the crank shaft marks are lined up, but the exhaust cam is off by a tooth. What should I do next?

The top picture is of the exhaust cam.
The middle picture is of the intake cam.
The bottom picture is of the cover and timing marks on the sprockets.

The exhaust cam is off by a tooth- should I make an adjustment or leave it?
After making the revolutions on the crank, the intake cam slot is very slightly off as well although the timing mark lines up.

You need to re-adjust the cams.
I would suggest using the cam locking tools.(Can't tell if you're using them or not)

When installing the belt, you want to take out as much slack as possible on the "right" side of things. Basically, leave all of the belt slack on the side with the tensioner. Otherwise, you will wind up with either the cams out of time with the crank, or with each other.

You should remove the tensioner and properly compress it and try again.

Alternatively (At your own risk) you can leave the pullies where they are and adjust the cams.

Looking at the pulley side, it *looks* like you have enough adjustment in the slots on both of the pullies.

-loosen the 3 bolts and carefully leverage the cam inside the pulley to rotate them to their proper orientation.
-tighten the 3 bolts
-mark the new "zero" location on the pullies in line with the reference marks (paint pen or the like)

Looking at things from the pulley side, the EX cam needs to go CCW and the intake CW, based on your pics of the backside of the cams.
