Replaced the MAF in the wagon after troubleshooting a million other things for random stalling. Me in my infinite knowledge decided that since the previous owner replaced the MAF 6 years ago (with receipts) SURELY that wasn't the issue.

Narrator: "It was the issue."

Runs great now.

So I took my xc90 head, cams and valve cover to a little machine shop in town that works on aluminum parts exclusively. They told me the valves were all straight and only needed cleaning and a valve job. All in they are charging me $450 including the cost of new seals. Also they somehow had a 24 hour turn around on this.

Well I installed the undercarriage brace today, and after taking it for a spirited drive that included a few roundabouts, it does feel stiffer.
Most noticeable in tight turns, but feels better overall. Ended up painting the mounting points black ( thanks to Bob Morton ), so it matches the strut tower brace better.

Good to know you have noticed a difference! I like the 2 tone look as it matches the black of the standard mounts.

Yes, I was surprised that it made a noticeable difference. But I guess if you welded a sheet of steel to the bottom of the car, you would feel a difference too. Bottom line - it's a worthwhile upgrade if you can snag one from a junkyard.
Side note; I ended up using the hydraulic press to put a little flat spot in the IPD exhaust pipe for clearance. More controllable, much quieter, and less medieval than using a hammer.
