2004 XC70 Front Bumper Cover

OK - yes i've searched this forum and a few other places for this info. My 17 y.o. son got into his first fender bender in my 2004 XC70 (Silver with black ?blue? trim/bumper cover). The car has 225k miles on it but still runs very well and I just put a new alternator into it. I'd like to keep the car. I don't 'need' a new bumper cover - it's has a semi-small crack in it and some scratches - but overall it's fine. I would *like* to find a new bumper cover.

The problem is that bumper cover is no longer available (discontinued - part 8620579).

I am told the 2005 - 2007 models also fit my car (wipers and foglights) but can't seem to confirm this anywhere other than here:

So since I like the look of the 2005+ front bumper covers better I'd love to source one of those.

My ask:

1) Does the 2005 + XC70 front bumper cover fit onto my 2004?
2) If so, does anyone have a part number or know where I can get it (I've found part 8663710 but can't get it confirmed to be the proper piece - seems to map to a V70).

3) Any other advice or thoughts or parts that will fit this car front bumper cover?

How bad is the damage? If it is not too bad you could have it repaired with plastic welding and stitching. You can even buy the tools on line.

I have repaired a couple of bumper covers with 'ears' torn in them by owners driving over concrete stop blocks in parking bays. They then back up and the metal tie rods for the blocks (re-bar) which sit higher tear 2 pieces and fold them back. I really would like to get the stitching machine at some point as it makes it much easier then to weld after.

Poly-carbonate headlights car's bumper will not fit glass headlights car, there's no cutouts for wipers. Repair yours with a hot stitches gun as advised, it would be the cheapest.

I had a minor damage after kissing bear's butt way up north in Canada, lost fog light in accident and had a few cracks. Repaired successfully.

Wondering if you removed the wipers/wiper motors if the late ones would fit? If generally found the wipers and washers to be pretty useless anyway.

It would fit without wiper motors/arms.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! @scot850 (Neil) and @VTL - in terms of repairing (I like your direction on this BTW) - what have you done or used to repair the outer surface? Have you used any particular polyester fillers? Have you used any particular paint to recoat and make it look 'new' again? I'm looking at products by SEM (like this one: https://www.semproducts.com/product/tex ... ct-details) to finish this project when done by painting it with texture.

The plastic staplers are surprisingly inexpensive at somewhere between $25 and $50 each including the stitching metals.

I did nothing. It is a battle wagon I used extensively and abusively for my overlanding trips. Thus, it is scratched, cracked and bent some places. If I ever find aspiration to do it, I'll blow plastic in Raptor.
