Out of the blue one day, I started my car and the overdrive was on. I had never switched the car into overdrive before. I tried pushing the button over and over and over as I drove, but that did not work. Someone suggested replacing the od relay, which I did do, but that did not fix the problem.
So, someone else suggested replacing the actual switch. I will do that if someone can convince me that is the problem. I just don't want to waste any more money randomly trying to fix it.
Only argument I have it not being the swtich is that the od randomly came on one day when I turned on the car. Never had a problem with it coming on before. I suppose it is possible that the switch somehow busted into the on state and cannot be toggled off.... dunno.
I've read around and people are talking about an OD selenoid. I just ordered a Volvo 240 Series Repair Manual, so I assume that will help me out.
I *really* don't need the OD on this model. I NEED the 4th gear
