Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Have a quick question, what is the part number for the 2pin connector with round pins, as used on brake reservoir, fan relay, and I think Temp sensor? ( think they are the same)
Is it 9144275? Is that still available somewhere?
I would need a few, mine are pretty broken.

There was a thread on the fan relay connector like this recently (last 2 months), which I think included the part number. Can't recall if it is still available though.

Finally got a car up on my lift! Only had it since about July last year, and the joke of it it is not my car!
I am helping my new Volvo friend Ed with his 96 850 10V base. He was told there is a rod knock, but I'm hoping it was a bad diagnosis as the water pump shaft is wobbling like a good 'un. I think it is the impeller that is causing the knocking noise. It is definitely bad as it is leaking water.
So far it has been so much easier working on a car where you are not lying on a cold floor flat on your back!
Hardest part so far is the water pump is in the trunk but the battery is completely flat and the trunk lock is jammed so the key won't turn. At least Volvo has done one thig right in that the seat backs in the 850 sedan fold down giving access!!
Got the car to the point of draining as much water as the radiator and block drain will do, and after a lot of faffing around managed to find all the alignment marks for the timing belt. Someone had mad so many thick white marks on the pulleys it was impossible to tell the correct ones!
Had to keep rotating the engine cleaning all the marks off to make sure I found the correct ones!
Tomorrow, TB off, and then remove the water pump and fit the new one. Hopefully enough time to refit the original TB and start the car if the battery is charged and see if we have fixed the knocking noise! If we are successful, then I will go over the car and see what else needs doing. The RR parking brake does not work and I think the caliper may be seized as well for starters. Then there are various heat shield nuts missing, broken limit pads on the front control arms and of course the trunk lock I've noticed so far. That was the quick check!!

And yes, once I figured one out the rest became more obvious what they meant!

Anyone in the New York capitol region need any 850 parts......
It's a 97 GLT with the low pressure turbo.
Engine and transmission have 237k but it ran and shifted like a dream, engine bay seems untouched, muffler and tailpipe are brand new OEM Volvo, trunk lid seems good, drivers side doors seem good, drivers side front rim is supposedly broken but the front tires were brand new, struts replaced recently, interior WAS gray but I don't know how much is left.
And the person who was driving is fine, just a little cut up from glass.
And on the same note, does anyone in the area have a 93-98 p80 they're thinking of parting with that we could buy?
Update: tow yard wants $1,500 in fees unless we surrender the title to them, RIP car.

I changed the front rotors and brake pads on Blue Steel. While in there, I noticed that the seals on both calipers had started to peel away from the edges, so I have some more work to do.
