Yes, it's the fastest. https://www.carscoops.com/2023/06/the-2 ... odel-ever/
I have an error on the comparison table -- the 3.4 0-60 number is made by the dual motor car, not single. I'll correct this on the page now.
Volvo's smallest EV is here... and it's inexpensive?

Now that EVs have been around for a solid ten years, I've been fascinated by regeniterave braking. It's also made me aware that when I brake in my ICE cars, all that energy is lost to brake dust. All that oil being pulled out of the ground or ocean floor, then processed, then shipped, then used in my car to get it up to 40 MPH or whatever... then lost at a red light.BlackBart wrote: ↑09 Jun 2023, 14:44 Y'know, the humble Bolt was about $28,000, this isn't much more than that. And the Bolt has been cancelled.
I drove a Fiat 500e the other night, just around the block. It was pristine, 20k miles, like new. They're only reported to be good for 85-95 miles, but this guy barely touches the pedal and uses regen braking and gets 120-140.

Back to this Volvo EV I can't stop thinking about: usually cheapest and fastest don't mix. But they do here. This is the cheapest car Volvo sells, EV or ICE, and is also the fastest! Pretty nuts.

No energy lost to brake dust. It just warms the climate some more. Now that EVs have been around for a solid ten years, I've been fascinated by regeniterave braking. It's also made me aware that when I brake in my ICE cars, all that energy is lost to brake dust.
(Actually an insignificant amount compared to effect of CO2 )

While I understand why electric motors have full torque immediately to get these acceleration times, does it burn less KW per mile to do so? My point being—doesn’t it defeat the purpose of an EV to burn up tires and waste electricity? Maybe the KW per mile is same no matter the acceleration rate.
Agree on wasted energy with brakes. I’ve been coaching my youngest on the 05 XC90 2.5T to work to use as little brake as possible to boost the mpgs. They like to drive with a foot on one pedal or the other…not great for mpgs.

Instantaneous fuel consumption readouts help!

Heavier vehicles always take more energy to accelerate. (Force equals Mass X Acceleration) (Energy eguals force X time)
Higher acceleration will always use more energy, either fuel or electricity.
I expect most electric vehicles will use less total energy from the power plant with equal acceleration from energy in the fossil fuel of an engine vehicle.

Ga s engines get about 1 mile per kwhr of energy in, EVs get up to 4 miles per kWhr
The electric engine has no internal resistance to overcome, and is 100% efficient at idle, unlike the ICE, and recovers energy ftom regenerative braking to get this efficiency advantage

Here is your Boise ID EX30 sales guy if you're in the NW. They won't come out and say they have any, but Matt's map showed a good-sized distribution there. I notice most of them are at ports. Lewiston ID is a major port on the Columbia River system - Lewiston is where they unload goods and put them on trucks or trains for distribution.
