XC 90 2007 AUTOMATIC

Post by manovlov »

Hy Guys,

I have a question. Friends of mine have a XC90 from 2007. The steering lower hose has a hole and looses fluid. Friends woiuld like to replace theme (both hoses).

Is it the normal way to do to get the subframe down for this operation or can it be done without this step ?

Thanks to all who will explain me the best way to do.

I don't believe that you can. The rack bolts to the subframe and the hoses have a rigid part that runs along the rack on the back side which means between the front subframe member and the side of the motor is all the in place space you have to work. See visual for a 5 cylinder, not sure what motor you have but this probably the most simple of the layouts;

Thanks ggleavitt. Does it mean that to access to these hoses, the only way is to unbolt the subframe ?

I believe that the only way to replace those hoses is to drop the subframe to some degree. I don't see how you'll be able to do it otherwise.

FYI that the P2 subframe bolts are single use and should be replaced with new. A good time to put in new OEM subframe bushing in that are reasonably priced. Verify the torque turn values, if I remember right on my S60 it was 88 ft-lb + 120 degrees.
