I PM'd you a link to the rear brake caliper thread I did a few years ago. Here it is again:

I should add that I seem to recall that link also has the alternate brakes Volvo came up with to replace the 00 R rear brakes. If I recall the parts were from a later P2 model. The rear brake pads for the vented rotors on the 00 R are used on later cars. They are not unique.

Your rear brakes have the NLA 2000 V70R rear dust shields and they may be able to be salvaged. They are crusty but look complete. Your pictures don't show the rear calipers or brackets.

It's really interesting that you found the maintenance history. Why would someone hand write it in reverse chronological order? At least it shows when the car was active and which parts are newer.

Where did you get an M56 kit so fast?

Couldn't tell you why it's backwards, maybe they copied it from something else. Looks to be photocopied too.

And I found it on marketplace. A Volvo enthusiast in Portland ME. He's selling an 850r replica right now that's beautiful.

I'm not sure I'm going to use it with this R. Once I get my other wagon done, or get my truck fixed, I might swap it into my 2000 v70xc.

I think I'm going to hold out for a m66 for the R. I'd love to keep the AWD functional.

Wow, that is dedication. Trying to fix that R is a challenge for sure. Couldn't you find anything better or are you innfor the pain? Yes, it was an R at some point, and the interior is still there and somewhat decent. But the hours to get it back to a decent shape must be enormous.

To be honest with you, this will be easier than the 99 V70 I bought for my wife. That had a LOT of rust repair I didn't notice when I bought the car.

Now I didn't repair it to OEM looking specs, but nobody will no except Volvo people. I replaced the last 18 inches of the rear rocker, part of the wheel well, and everything on the passenger side rear bumper support.

Armed with the knowledge I learned from doing those repairs, fixing the fenders on this car will be far easier. Plus it's already cut up. If I don't return it to factory OEM specs, and do some sort of wide body with it, I'm not going to feel bad about ruining a v70R .

As for lowering it back to original ride height, that's the easiest of all. They didn't cut any mounting points or really mess anything up. They just spaced everything with washers and longer bolts.

After that it's just basic maintenance on the wear and tear items. Which I just did on two different v70s.

I'm not worried about the time it'll take for this car. I bought it specifically because it was a $600 $2,000 V70R. If it sits in my backyard for a while I'm not worried about it. There is no rot on the car. And everything you see that looks rusted is nothing but surface rust.
