01V70T5: voltage regulator removal

Need to replace the voltage regulator but there is a black plastic piece that sits right over top on it.

Anyone knows how to remove the black plastic piece?

Robert, are you talking about the alternator (regulator is inside of it, I believe) or generator?

Alternator.

There is no generator on recent models.

I am looking for someone who has direct experience who can explain how the plastic piece comes off that sits on top of the regulator.

I thought it would be in VADIS but it assumes that you already took the plastic piece off...all it talks about is the screws for the alternator. Hope someone with first hand experience on your car can chime in.

The cover on the alternator is held on by three small phillips screws, a nut
holding the positive(red) cable on and 3 or 4 plastic tabs which are part
of the cover. Lift these tabs and pry the cover off after the screws and nut
are removed
