'06 S60R Automatic Transmission: Where is the FILL plug?

Post by Ethan5150 »

Can someone tell me where the fill plug is located on the '06 S60R automatic transmission? A picture would be awesome but I realize that's a lot of work... If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be most appreciated! 🙏

Pretty sure the Rs have the same yellow dipstick as other P2s, buried in the center of the engine bay on the transmission. May be easier to see from underneath.

Is it 5 or 6 speed?

06 S60R has TF-80SC transmission, 6 speed. Second video is spot on for where/how on the drain plugs and the full plug, and how to properly fill and check level by getting the gearbox up to temp.

Your call if you want to do drain/fill or flush, I have always done flush. Some good stuff in this thread, but some fluff too: https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/tran ... ic.226398/

The dipstick is in the same place as the regular P2 wagons. I pull my airbox on the 05 V70R to get to the dipstick/fill hole when doing a drain and fill. I didn't have to do this to my 01 V70.

Thanks for all the support guys - I purchased the vehicle after the owner sent me a video of some good clean-looking trans fluid. I'll probably do the drain-and-fill method for the next several oil changes. Really appreciate your support!

There is no dipstick in an 06 or 07 P2 R, unlike the 05 and earlier ones. The TF80-SC transmission does not have a dipstick.

Warning..many of these transmissions have a bolt on top that looks like a fill plug, if you remove it you need to disassemble the transmission to put bands back in place , or a skilled person to do an in-car “ bandcapture”
