XC90 V8 2011 O2 sensor

Post by Pretribrapper »

Having an issue. Hoping someone can help. I had CEL light come on
P0430 Catylist System Efficiency Below Threshold
P0152 High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1
I replaced the Sensor with aftermarket and now I have three codes, the above two and P0154 code saying no activity detected.
I then replaced the aftermarket one with a Bosch o2 sensor and same message is showing.

Question 1. Is it possible that my CEL is still showing old codes even though my OBD2 scanner resets the codes and I can refresh the codes?
Question 2. Is it really possible that I have a second bad sensor
Question 3. The Sensor I replaced is on the back of the motor higher up. Is that B2 S1?
Question 4. Any thought on how to proceed????
CEL is not currently on but obd 2 diagnostic is throwing codes

There are four O2 Sensors on a V8. All of then are located on the Exhaust manifolds because the front two cats are integrated into the Exhaust manifold. The rear two cats are not monitored.

Bank one is always includes cylinder #1. On the XC90 V8 Bank one is the head toward the front of the car truck and bank 2 is the head toward the firewall. Bank 2 S1 ( front ) will be on the back side of the engine and the one higher up the one you replaced. Best guess is the connector got shorted out or you did not route it correctly and the wiring got burnt by the hot Exhaust manifold.

P0152 is most likely the cause of the other two codes.
Check the wiring for shorts to supply voltage line and clean the electrical connectors to the O2 sensor.

P0152 Possible source
  • Contact resistance and oxidation in the terminals.
Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
Damaged front heated oxygen sensor (bank 2).

I'm also seeing the same code, and wanted to ask whether the O2 sensors can be replaced from underneath the car? I'm also a little confused by the sensors that can be purchased on fcpauto where there are upstream, downstream, front left, front right, and rear right, and rear left.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I dive down the path of sadly replacing the CAT?
