Post by duke1 »

hi all ive shortly to replace the clutch on my 1994 (reg aug 94) and it seems my normal go too no longer makes it so borg and beck is out.
i have found sachs kit no 3000540001 for £154 +post but are they still good clutches? any help would be good, its a 10v with b5252s engine and five speed box, am in uk so prefer local if possible but dealer says n.l.a. cheers all.

Haven't fitted a manual clutch in 40 years! Back then it was only Sachs for Volvos. Who knows where they are made these days and if any parts quality are what they were. Borg and Beck were also good. Do Luk exist still?

This UK supplier has Sachs and Luk:

Skandix in Germany also have a couple of options.

Over here Pelican Parts claim to have Volvo OEM

hi neil thanks for the input,i chose luk and also ordered a new rear main oil seal.
theres little price difference between the luk and sachs at the moment so chose the fastest delivery which happened to be the luk clutch kit, this could be a fun job single handed and on my own (i only have one proper working hand)
but i think ive all the tools i need i have a new engine support bar and chains a decent jack and clutch alignment tool a bit worried about the bolts securing the subframe they dont look like they have ever been undone since car was assembled!
if there anything like the pinch bolt on the bottom balljoint that took me 3 days to get out after the head rounded off then snapped and made a very easy job into nightmare one in a few seconds!
im either dedicated or insane im unsure which so also indecisive!
i will update how i get on,thanks all.

There is a crazy video about a guy in the UK who comes and does your clutch in the driveway in three hours.

I would pay just to watch …..
