yep same thing in Chuck’s pic, loose feed line. That screw clamp is cinched completely tight from the factory but on most aging pumps you can just spin it, definitely a poor choice they should have used a smaller diameter clamp.
I fixed it by installing about 4 inches of new hose where the original was just under 3-1/4”. But I did use the same clamp! You have to use submersible fuel line it’s like $20/foot, I had a piece left over from a previous fuel pump repair when I bought the Bosch insert for my wagon’s pump.
Diagnose the issue anyone?

Can you get into the pump enough to swage on a small flare onto the nipple end? It should really have that. Straight connectinghose onto bare pipe at 50 psi pressure is problematic
Is gates Barricade Fi hose ok to use here? I wouldn’t have checked for submersibility
, Q: Can Barricade hose be submersed in gasoline?
A: NO. For fuel line hose that will be submersed in gasoline, use Gates Submersible Fuel Line Hose which is specially engineered for constant contact with gasoline (and other liquid petroleum distillates) on the inside and the outside.

Abscate, I did not know that. I have put that bit of knowledge into the memory bank. Unfortunately, at my age, when a piece of info gets inserted in the front, other info gets pushed out the back. I wonder what I just lost....

Yeah, I dug into it. Looks like a "T10" or a "T14" spec is needed for submersibility. The submersible stuff does specifically say so and is usually printed on the hose itself and the cost also reflects the capabilities.

Crap, $20 a foot.
It’s another opportunity to buy this in bulk and mail out the required 6 inches to those in need

Yeah, $20/foot is probably why they cheap out on it from the factory, even though of course the manufacturer is paying much less.
Top is the factory piece I removed that was dislodged you can see it’s just under 3-1/4” long. Bottom is the remaining piece I have of the unused submersible line after buying 12 inches and doing two P80 fuel pump jobs. Looks like I am using 4” pieces I’ll edit my post above to reflect that. The 5/16 is a very tight fit on the pipe, fwiw.
