P80 late Return lacking fuel system RLFS 9470755 8627005 - fitment for 98 99 00 cars

Post by abscate »

The late p80 fuel system uses a new design that keeps fuel in the tank cooler and eliminates the long fuel return line from the engine.

This thread discusses the changes and the purge valve requirements on these cars

There are two fitment s listed for these cars based on number printed on valve.

No VIN or engine number is given

Both are Pierburg valves

Does anyone have info on which is which and what the differences are?

Could be difference between current sink of ME7 vs ME4.4/DENSO engine management

This is my speculation as of 2023-08

When the evap canister moves back to the rear passenger area in mid 1998 model year, fuel pressure regulation is no longer handled by a manifold vacuum line , but a tee off the purge valve. This means the purge vacuum now also manages the FPR so the purge valve has to reflect this. It might be turbo NA parts break

My 775 reads 22.9 ohms. N.C. It takes 1.75oz. weight to physically open valve. Don't know if it makes any difference.

Finally figured out the emissions code. It’s the 8th digit in the VIN so

Kat is D

Evita

Shagg A

Elizabeth D

Of course, in the Volvo parts store there is ambiguous , confusing information as to which purge valve goes with which purge valve. The codes are shown in the title page of the part, then on;y a subset of codes are listed in fitment.

No idea where emissions codes 7, 8 are coming from , these are probably 850 emission codes
Grrrrrr..

It also shows another Pierburg part number suffix

02 04 06 03 00

To add to the fun
