In the photos below you’ll see the SRS wire harness secured in place by a black plastic clip which has a tab which slides under the white metal structure the module bolts to.The harness is somewhat pinched forward against the shifter mechanism and I’m leery of forcing the black piece forward to free it . You can not unplug the SRS harness with this clip in place. If I were to remove the two large bolts holding that galvanized cross piece above the harness that would make matters simpler. I assume if I remove them nothing remarkable will happen like nuts falling to the ground or something coming loose beneath the car which shouldn’t. The question seems silly but I figured no harm in asking.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

That cross piece is part of the console sheet metal structure. My goof. No signs of an electro spot weld on the end tabs, but it’s well secured.and that orange tape wrapped harness has 4 branches of it under there. Two going forward either side of the shifter and one going under the carpet to each heated seat. It’s not lifting out of there under any circumstances. VIDA shows a big service loop with the module up above the console to operate the plug latch but that ain’t happening. It required fumbling with fat arthritic fingers in a very tight space and it also involved some bleeding.Lots of sharp sheet metal around and the nearest gloves were on the workbench. But the SRS module is out and next will be probing for the Vida shown parameters necessary for communication. Namely voltages and data link circuits. I’m not seeing a reason they should be bad but you gotta start somewhere. As soon as I confirm they’re all good and I’ve cleaned all the connectors I’ll put it together and run Vida again. We’re going with the module is fine. I’ve read here they are reliable and not prone to failure. Question is, how does one test them. send it to Xemodex?

I can't answer your testing question, but the orange cables could be air bag or SRS system related.

Hello Neil, yeah, that is the SRS cable with the branches off it and nearly impossible to unplug. Over on Swedespeed tonight pouring through more SRS/Vida stuff. A lot of the fixes seem to be replaced modules and/or SW reloads from the stealers. I’ll post progress as things evolve. Slow go but getting familiar with the wiring diagrams for each of the modules and learning routing in the vehicle. Probably to no avail.

A couple months back I sent mine (200 S70 GLT SE) out to MAB but they sent it back saying it was defective and they couldn't fix it. Cost me about $60 I think. So I'm driving without it for now. Not sure what I'll do with it. Very interested to see how you make out with yours.
