More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
Yesterday (August 23, 2023) the calculated growth rate for all United States was 0.00941. This is the highest growth rate since March 8, 2023, when it was 0.00994. The number of new Covid-19 cases are rising again, but the increase is still fairly low.

The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, 33 states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for August 23, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.471) with 25,612 cases, North Dakota (0.160) with 292,841 cases, New York (0.103) with 7,074,117 cases, Wisconsin (0.074) with 2,042,039 cases, and Maine (0.054) with 325,488 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 399 of the last 427 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 61 of the last 80 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 277 of the last 322 days. Wisconsin has been in the top 5 states for 52 of the last 52 days.

Several states have stopped posting new case and new death numbers. I will back calculate where possible. These Districts and states have not reported in the last 30 days or more: Alabama, Arkansas, California, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Veteran Affairs, US Military, Navajo Nation, and Federal Prisons.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00941 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00543. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 48 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 374 of last 569 days with decreasing active case numbers. In the last weeks, the number of reported active cases has dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021.

There have now been 107 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 32% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

August 23, 2023 the calculated growth rate for all United States was 0.00941.

State growth rates for August 29, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.486) with 25,644 cases, North Dakota (0.111) with 293,053 cases, New York (0.100) with 7,081,390 cases, Wisconsin (0.060) with 2,042,039 cases, and Maine (0.056) with 325,910 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 405 of the last 433 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 67 of the last 86 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 283 of the last 328 days. Wisconsin has been in the top 5 states for 58 of the last 58 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00513 for yesterday, up from previous day of 0.00164. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 52 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 376 of last 575 days with decreasing active case numbers. In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. In the last half of August, active cases are once again above 800,000.

There have now been 108 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 32% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.
