99 V70 Where does this vacuum line go.?

I believe I may have damaged something something here while removing the air intake preparing for rad replacement.

The red box looks to be a port to operate that vacuum motor if that’s what it is to move that air valve? I pulled up the Vida schematic of the air intake but though it shows the intake tube and the air filter box there is no image of this mechanism. And no vacuum lines shown. The yellow box is a hard vacuum line off the backside of the air cleaner cover. Blue box below.

I’ve searched around for vacuum a schematic as the one on my hood shows nothing of this and frankly looks nothing like what I have on the car. The proximity of the line to the nipple on that grey mechanism leads me to believe they mate up though it seems like a small line to operate it. Thank you nursing me through this radiator job. So close…

You are missing a rubber elbow that joins the hard line to the vacuum motor flap as you correctly noted.

Your local flaps will have a Dorman replacement

And many thanks again abscate, actually a double thanks. Because in reading the headlight conundrum thread I was circuitously (is that a word?) led to MoVolvo’s project thread from last year where the discussion turns to the air box “flap” I pictured above, where you guys discussed it’s purpose, how it functions, and it’s usefulness. I did not know those things. You referenced those hard plastic lines and their eventual replacement (perhaps) by vacuum line. Would you recommend that at this point since I need to replace other vacuum lines in there as well. I was contemplating buying a selection of that pretty blue silicone hose on Amazon. I need the 8mm for the Pierburg solenoid, (Not sure what that operates as I read it was for controlling turbo boost and my car is NA.) as well as other sizes. Probably won’t have enough of what I need. And more that I don’t.

I used silicone lines to replace the vacuum hoses on my 850 about 10 years ago and they have been working well with no degradation so far.
