No fuel pressure: Bad ECM

I searched long and hard looking for the cause for my fuel system to fail. All I found were millions of references to bad fuel pumps, bad relays, clogged filters, etc. I tested all those components and they were all good, as were tyhe injectors, fuel rails and hoses, etc.

The problem was traced using a schematic I found online for this car.

The ECU was faulty -- and this issue was the only failure of the ECU itself. The entire rest of the car was perfiectly fine and fit.

I am making this post because I read more than once that the ECM's in these cars simply do not fail.

Yes they do. Mine took out the fuel system with no warnings, codes etc. Ebay fix: $35.

I think the point is they seldom fail unless they have had outside influence. I've had issues with oxidized connectors on the ECU and TCU causing random issues, but once cleaned they were good again.

I think realistically, we have to take into account the electronics on these cars are now (with the exception of the C70) are mostly 23 years old or older. Components will fail, but it is a very unusual failure. I appreciate your hard work in tracing the issue and then letting us know as it may be something we have to be watching for going forward.
