2000 V70 Stalls when slowing for a stop.
This just started. Everytime I slow to a stop I feel the idle decrease and the car stalls.
Right now I prevent this by keeping one foot on the brake and the other on the gas to keep it from stalling. The car has 33k miles on it and ran flawlessy until now. I replaced the oil at the required intervals and the air filter at 30k miles. Is there something else to do to prevent this?

Look around the engine for disconnected hoses or worn vacuum tubes (small white-cream colored tubes). Those could be a culprit.
Then have the dealer read the codes that I'm 99% sure are being stored by your Volvo's computer, in this case. The codes will cross-reference to a list of ailments.
Please report back what you find.

Check to see if you can slow down using gears and not the brakes. Does it idle fine if the brake pedal is not depressed?
Does the RPM change when you depress the Brake pedal? It should not. If it does, then you have a vacuum leak at, or in hose going to the brake booster, or in the brake booster itself. But first check for vacuum leaks at all hoses and elbows. If it is Brake related, the Vacuum leak is most likely in the Brake Booster area.

New development: The Check Engine light has come on. Does this indicate a problem with teh emission system??Bob4Volvo wrote:This just started. You're still living with this? Why? Take it to the dealer and have them read the codes. Then you'll know what's wrong and how to fix it, or how much it will cost to have fixed.
Yes, check engine means emission problems. It sounds even more like a vacuum problem.
