Wondering if anyone has any ideas...Have a 2006 V70 that wouldn't start today and has had no recent problems, tach doesn't move at all while cranking and there's pressurized fuel in the rail.
I hooked up my OBD tool and it has no codes stored and VIDA/DICE is showing 3400 and 3400B, Camshaft sensor signal intake missing. I pulled off the cover and there are no broken parts and the rotating part seems tight and is spinning while cranking.
I'm kind of at a stopping point now.
I have a 2003 xc70 (parts car) I swapped the sensor with and it still doesn't start and the code is still there in VIDA/DICE but I'm very much a beginner to that software so not sure if I cleared it first. I guess it could be either a wiring problem or that sensor is not compatible, is there a way to pin out the sensor to see if it's shorted or open? Thanks
06 V70, cranks but no start Topic is solved

Yes. Sounds normal when cranking and intake camshaft sensor excitor ring (?) is turning.
Looks like the codes I'm concerned with are ecm-3400 and 340B, think the misfire on cyl 5 is just an anomaly.
Second pic is as the car is cranking so it's getting fuel, checked at the schrader valve.

I am showing rpm on vida/dice while cranking and saw somewhere that it means the intake cam sensor is reading, the tachometer doesn't move while cranking, though.

Pulled No. 5 plug and it's getting spark, albeit yellow probably because of the battery getting a little weak. Put a jump box on it and still doesn't start but spark did get brighter.
At this point I think I need to think about aligning the timing marks and seeing how they are...About a year and a half ago I dropped the pan to clean the crappy pcv drain passage and I changed the front main seal, oil pump seal, and both cam seals and since then I noticed a small oil leak. When I pulled the upper timing cover I saw some oil not only on the belt but on the inside of the cover, I've never heard of it before but maybe it jumped a tooth with all of the oil?
Guess I'll redo both cam seals and front main seals and install a new timing belt but definitely NOT looking forward to setting those VVT cams.

vida might be getting rpm data from the crankshaft sensor because its indicating the cam signal is missing.
cranking speed before the engine fires up doesn't show on the tachometer.

Pulled the serpentine belt and mid timing belt cover but couldn't see the lower timing mark, there's oil from the water pump on down. Sprayed the area with brake cleaner and pulled off the front wheel so I could get to the crank pulley nut and guess what, no crank nut, it fell off at some point.
Will have to wait to pull off the crank nut off my parts car so I can install it on this car and spin the motor to see the timing marks. I have a belt and cam/crank seals ordered but the belt is oil-soaked so I really want to see where the marks are before I pull the belt.
