2005 V70 2.4 No Power or Ground at Fuel Pump
2005 V70 2.4 No Power or Ground at Fuel Pump
I have been poking around the forums trying to find someone else with this issue, but haven't found anything quite like this. Not sure if it changes anything with diagnosing, but my car is one of the few with a metal fuel tank instead of the plastic. Car died on my way home from work a few weeks ago due to the fuel pump quitting. Was hopeful that it would just be the PEM, but I swapped it with one that was supposed to be good out of a 2005 S60 and no change. Bought a new Bosch fuel pump and installed that today also with no change. Started doing some testing with my multimeter and experimenting and discovered that it doesn't appear to be getting a ground connection or a power connection to the fuel pump under any condition. Double checked this by connecting an auxiliary ground wire directly to the body, which didn't change anything. I also tried using the original ground and connected a constant 12V source to the positive side of the pump, which also didn't change anything. The only way I have been able to get the pump to work is to use a direct power and ground to the pump. Car runs fine with the pump running. Trying to figure out where to go from here? Could a bad body ground somewhere cause this? Everything else in the car appears to work fine. Bad CEM? Thanks in advance for any help!

my understanding is the pem turns the pump by grounding it, it should have constant 12v feed to the pump.
you'll need the circuit diagram, look for pump fuse, fix the power feed to the pump first, that might solve the pem problem, if not then the pem might have a power feed problem too. I would expect they share the same problem 12v feed.
