Though the wire covering is now plastic it's not that bad in the sense that all 4 of our Volvos were worse. We just used harness tape and it was a done deal on all of them. Do not remove any of the broken pieces and just wrap.
.
Used a similar brand of High Heat Tape for under the hood. Have also use the more softer tape for wiring and harness inside the car. As a matter of fact we use the softer on the S70 wiring below. The High Heat Tape is good for plug wire and others next to the engine.

While the wiring is good now, that headlight is done for. You probably get next to no light out of those reflectors!
.
Those reflectors were definitely shot. The pictures were from the October 16th 2022 post when the work was done. The lights are still okay after painting the reflectors and no wiring issues.

Got distracted chasing a bad battery but then realized my Gauge is sitting at 2’ and AWD cars totalize , not average. I had put one gallon in to get home from the last , drove around for 25 miles, then ran out again.

Instead of chasing red herrings, I measured fuel pressure when stalled. 5-10 psi. Amazing

Runn8jg out of gas symptoms. Slight surging on 45 mph road, then power decline, rough idle m stall

Car will them crank, idle rough as the cavitation gets fuel pump delivers a bit of fuel to injectors, idles 5-10 seconds, stalls. No power, you can’t move car under idle

Too funny.

Abby amd I used solid tow bar method to retrieve car one mile from home , waited an hour for Universoty traffic to slack off until 6 pm, went home , ate pizza, came back and got her safe

I need to cut down a tall tree, so that herring will be useful
Too funny indeed... it's okay though, you didn't have to pay someone an hour of diag to tell you it was out of gas! Had to do that a few weeks ago... then the guy literally sold the car while it was in my shop. Hilarious chain of events... I should have charged him double for wasting my time

The sale is still going on for those interested. My RHD brace arrived but the S70 is with my Son so won't be able to provide feedback for a couple of weeks. I'm tempted to get the LHD also just to see how well it fits? If you get yours installed let us know what you think?

Neil.
So far the cascade of events being rusted fuel line causing low fuel pressure which caused a backfire which blew out the exhaust manifold which happened to be RTV'd in place and needed the cylinder head to come off as well as to replace some valve stem seals which has led to a broken head bolt. On the bright side, it's on the very front of the engine so it's the easiest to access.
.
Do you think a shorter bolt may work? Keep us posted on how you intend to solved that as it's pretty deep and probably frozen also.
.

Ooofla. I thought my week of idiocy running out of gas was a bad week... hopefully it drills out easily. Is there a good machine shop nearby?

I'll start posting again in the thread I made for this car now that I'm back to working on it, but the bolt actually broke right at where the threads start in the block. There is a machine shop I've dealt with in the past so I always have that as a last resort.
Plenty of threads here and elsewhere about people getting these out, it seems it happens more than I thought.

The LHD should fit no problem. The RHD takes a bit of modification to the fuse box location and blocks access to the brake fluid reservoir. Possibly something else.

I attached a picture of the guys engine bay who is using the RHD.

I broke a blinker assembly while replacing the headlights. New blinker assembly on order. Current blinker assembly attached to frame with magnets I glued to the back of the blinker assembly. That should work for the time being. New headlights made a huge difference!

I took the cup holder apart to see how to fix it. It's got some broken innards, and it looks like I'm going to need a spring on the inside for one of the arms to swing out correctly. I think a small screw can serve as the post for the arm to swing on once I locate a spring. Until then, my passengers will have to hold their drinks while I use the functioning cup holder. :D

Got the car back from the mechanic with a list of new projects.
