I'll start posting again in the thread I made for this car now that I'm back to working on it, but the bolt actually broke right at where the threads start in the block. There is a machine shop I've dealt with in the past so I always have that as a last resort.
Plenty of threads here and elsewhere about people getting these out, it seems it happens more than I thought.

I've had really good luck with EZ outs. But with a head bolt I would feel better trying some reverse drill bits.

Pulling apart this head and giving it a good look up close I noticed that the top of the valve stems look different between some valves, the thickness of the brass colored section on the outside differs between valves. Is this a sign of wear or just manufacturing differences? I know these cars are getting up in mileage just curious if it's something to worry about.

I also noticed what appeared to be severe pitting on the lifters, I've only seen the inside of two other engines, and neither had this on the lifters. I don't even understand what would cause that to happen. Anyone ever seen it? Are the lifters junk?

I broke a blinker assembly while replacing the headlights. New blinker assembly on order. Current blinker assembly attached to frame with magnets I glued to the back of the blinker assembly. That should work for the time being. New headlights made a huge difference!

Pulled over to photograph some Canadian visitors and either hit something or. ???

Right rear tire blew out , sidewall failure. Tread about 3/32, but tires 13 years old. Time for new summers next year

13 years is up there for a tire. The Pirellis on my S70 have 2016 date codes and are starting to show cracks. That reminds me.... maybe I should check tire pressure in my spare again.

That works, too. I chose to over complicate the solution?
The magnets are exceeding expectations, however!
New blinkers don't go in until I achieve catastrophic failure.

Oh, I have made steel tabs at one point and JB welded them to the corner light to slide into the side of the headlight. It took way longer than it should have, but the solution worked until I found a good used light that still had the tabs in tact.

Pulled out the oil cooler lines and installed the blanking plate. I've decided that since I live in a hot country with terrible traffic, I can't validate Robert's experience for my own application without at least trying it first, and I'll have the hoses repaired eventually.

Now I'm wondering if it was hooked up properly to begin with. Which port should go to the upper and which one to the lower? The bracket was not connected so it's clearly been removed at some point. On my car the port farther from the engine was the one hooked up to the lower line.

I took advantage of some sale on Walmart the other week and got both LHD and RHD OBX front strut bars. I think it was like 200ish shipped for both

The sale is still going on for those interested. My RHD brace arrived but the S70 is with my Son so won't be able to provide feedback for a couple of weeks. I'm tempted to get the LHD also just to see how well it fits? If you get yours installed let us know what you think?

The LHD should fit no problem. The RHD takes a bit of modification to the fuse box location and blocks access to the brake fluid reservoir. Possibly something else.

I attached a picture of the guys engine bay who is using the RHD.

Thanks for the RHD photo. I actually purchased the LHD unit . Helps to sit in the car rather than look at it from the front.

Those valve faces look like they are burning and were on their way to failing. It is either caused by water sitting in the combustion chambers, pre-ignition, or running regular gas at highway or heavy load conditions. Add to that old valve stem seals possibly leaking then you can pick your choices.

You have 2 choices, run as they are and cross your fingers that having replaced all the potential sources, That they will hold together to see the rest of the car out, or replace the bad ones. I know Abscate used aftermarket ones if I recall.

Check the cam lobes for wear patterns. Could also be some valves had been replaced in the past with cheaper alternates?

Yes,Muffin was driving 12000 miles Yearly on those two back tires. I’ll dump them both. Luckily it’s winter time so snows go on , so no money out until April 2024 earliest. Her new commute is 1.2 miles so I might not even swap out on April
