I've come to discover that my BCV isn't bolted in, seems like the previous owner just up and lost the bolts. No real scrapyard options here, and I know it's a longshot but would anyone here know what it would be on say FCP Euro? I can spend the time to find something with the right size and pitch but OE spec is always nice.
Also I'm scheduling a check of the A/C, probably got a slow leak. I've had one other orifice tube based car and I'm wondering if these cars are similar in that the orifice tube itself tends to get clogged and needs to be replaced every so often.

When I replaced the evaporator on mine, I replaced the orifice tube and it was almost totally plugged up. It was NASTY. So yes, it's possible that it's a problem. That's what I don't like about refrigerants with added stop-leak. Successfully removed my ventilated tire off the rim and replaced it with a new Goodyear, but I couldn’t get the bead to seat. The ratcheting strap around the outer edge of the tire didn’t work, and the starter fluid method worked on one side until I tried to stamp out the flames and unseated it. The other side didn’t provide the blast to seat the bead; it was just flames.
Maybe I’ll ask Santa for an air compressor this year!

I managed to remove the small metal pocket cover to the transmission that encases the dip stick. It had a leak that I was able to stop with a small dap of solder early this summer, but after doing that another pin-sized hole appeared just below the one I closed up! I was able to find a junkyard replacement that seems in decent shape. With the balmy weather we are having (50 degrees F in mid-Dec!), I thought maybe it's time to replace that cover.
Well, let me tell you...I hope I never have to do something like that again!
To gain access to the four bolts holding the cover, I had to remove the transmission mount, and remove the bolts holding the transmission oil cooler line that feeds into the transmission adjacent to the cover! Sounds easy enough, but to get to the bolt holding the cooler line about mid-way to the motor, I had to create more access...removed the battery, the battery tray (and all the parts underneath the tray), the bolts holding the dip stick tube in (without removing the entire tube), one of the turbo hoses leading to the bottom of the condenser, and a few other air/vacuum hoses! My goodness, what a project!
I cleaned off the cover's mating surfaces (the replacement cover and the part of the transmission the cover attaches to (reminded me of cleaning the cylinder head before applying new gasket material!!). My primary concern was being able to get the bolts back in once I had the cover in place...a rightly so...it seemed to take forever. Had to use a quarter inch drive with a 10mm socket and concort my arms in front of and between the subframe and other hoses and electrical harnesses so I could actually hold the ratchet, and then hold the socket so it would tighten the bolt, especially the very most top bolt. Without any tension, the socket goes in the same direction as the ratchet - forward and backward without any tightening action! The other three bolts were easily inserted and tightened. What would have helped was a quarter inch wobble extension, but I have never seen one of those:)
So, my question is....how much time should I give the gasket material time to dry...hours or a day(?) before adding fresh transmission fluid?

In the above pic, the top most bolt can hardly be seen, but it's there, dark, oily covered, just below the dirty looking oil cooler line!

For gasket material, I used Permatex anaerobic gasket maker - kind of reddish - pink in color.

What does the sealer recommend? I'd go by that. Some anerobic products never actually harden fully so they can fill any slight surface imperfections. Without knowing the sealer you have used, I know some here have used the Permatex product so I will leave any shortening of time to recommended to them.

The yard I went to today is 109 U Pull It in Winston Salem. Great yard, lots of inventory and good prices.
Folks live 10 minutes from the LKQ. Just saw it a couple of months ago after driving 70 for these many years
