Our mid-century modern haus has a 1947 AO Smith old school big boiler for the hydronic system (in 1947!). It's I don't know how many thousands of btu's oversized, so maybe it didn't work that hard and lasted. Do you think maybe it's on borrowed time??

Yesterday, I finally got the little Homelite chainsaw starting and running well. I cut down several small trees and larger bamboo stalks. As i was restarting, the starter rope started to bind. When I went to add more fuel mix, I found the pull handle was GONE. I retraced my path and found it with about 4 inches of cord attached.
I dug into my Homelite saw parts box with 3 mostly complete saws and found a body cover with good, working pull rope. Unfortunately, the body cover did not fit to the main body. So, I swapped the pull rope and clockspring from the mismatched cover to the old cover. Total time about 1 hour and no parts cost. Hoarder win!

More additions to creative wiring. Normally ok to use BX as a ground sheath, but you do have to tighten the nuts onto the sheath to ensure a good connection. If you run out of materials on a wiring job, you can omit a box pass through, wiring to outlet, and strain relief with a Hack-fire connection …

This break I am trying to hang a painting on an old, very thin plaster wall.
Second project - fix a couple of low voltage track lights. Appears the electronic transformers have given up after 10 years. NLA of course.

Every year or two the drain in my pocket sink stops draining fast, so water builds up when the tap is on. Years ago I tried Draino, very hot water, both, waiting, more Draino, etc. This did not work.
Then one day sometime after I got my Craftsman shop vac (also pocket sized
) I thought about trying to push the clog down the system. So I used the little shop vac and my rubber vacuum attachment adaptor (that fits perfectly over the drain) and did just that. Bingo. The other day I did it for the second time. Easy work.
