What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Very happy I didn't damage my engine from a low oil level condition a few weeks ago

These pics were taken 2 days ago, after driving mostly steady 60 mph on highway, Shell mid grade gas 89 octane, light breeze, Walmart 5W-30 high mileage synthetic oil, low load in car, 35psi tire pressure, Sailun Atrezzo tires, disconnected radiator fan.
2004 V70 2.4L, changed in the last year: DENSO 5304 Iridium Power plugs, Denso spark plug boot, rear wheel bearing, new pads and rotors, control arm bushings, Valvoline MaxLife ATF, Lucas Transmission Fix (saved tranny).

Front control arms, ball joints, and wheel bearings/hubs on the 07 XC70. 170k miles, control arms and ball joints were replaced around 100k. Bushings were rough, ball joints were fine but did them any way so I don’t have to go back in there again later.

Took 3 hours for the first side, 2 for the second. Had to figure out how to pry the new arm down to pop the ball joint stud through and spline the cv axle at the same time

. I used CTA 4019 to install the ball joints.

Originally ordered Beck Arnley for everything (RockAuto), since I’ve had good experience with them in the past (often reboxed OEM). But this time..wheel bearing was stamped PPS (ProParts Sweden) and the other parts were all Made in China. Ended up returning it all and going with Lemforder control arms and ball joints, and FAG wheel bearings/hubs.

I replaced the left control arm with a used control arm, while I wait out for volvo blue box bushings for the left control arm, I will replace them and then install it back. I should do the right side as well, however...they do cost a lot so I cannot to them at the same time.

Additionally I believe I need new shocks too but I am not sure what brand. I've heard mixed things about the Sachs brand(which is what I got according to the Volvo sticker on the shocks) since they moved production to Turkey.

Btw, someone tell me how they got the old droplinks out, considering the lower nut is pretty much obstructed by the subframe so I cannot use a ratchet.

Offset wrench. Or raise the transmission slightly.

By drop links do you mean the stabilizer end links? If so, undo the top ones and then rotate (or pry) the stabilizer bar to get access to the bottom nut.

I’ve done two sets of loaded TRQ struts on an 08 S60 and 08 C70. The S60 is at 2 years and over 25k miles with them and they are still holding up. I put cheap Chinese ones on an 02 S60 and they should need replacing after 40k as while they don’t groan and squeak they ride a little harsh, wish I would have put TRQ on.

I believe I ended up using an offset box end wrench for my control arms. I tried a socket like the link below and didn’t work for me, YMMV.

A Lemforder control arm is $90 at FCP - that can’t be much more than you’re paying for genuine Volvo bushings, and would save you a boatload of time installing/uninstalling, right?

I am just looking for a more comfortable ride. Lemforder don't make nice rubber

Also the price of both bushings is the same for the bushings. And prolly 20 bucks to get them pressed in.

Don't confuse Lemforder parts with Genuine Volvo.
