Lancia Fulvia rally cars is correct!

I think Monteverdi was a Swiss tycoon. Those cars had big block Chryslers in them.

Why did so many cars in Europe end up with Mopar stuff in them? Were they only one of the Big Three that learned sandbox manners in kindergarten?

Cheap, reliable, plenty of power.

There were a few with Chevies, but mainly smallblocks, and a few Fords (Pantera, Cobra).
But easy loping torque favored (big displacement) cheap Chryslers.

The interesting thing about the Chevy truck is it’s a 1-ton, and obviously 4WD. US makers didn’t start building 4WD trucks until about 1960, and usually built special order by a sub-contractor. Before that, specialized companies took a stock truck off the line and heavily modified it. Usually for orders from the military, forest service, mining companies, etc.

This pic is curious because the rear axle is so narrow, like one of those railroad vehicles that ride on the track width. Was that the only HD axle available? Was it intended for a bigger truck with dual wheels?
