2000 s80 3.9 trunk is locked w/ dead battery
2000 s80 3.9 trunk is locked w/ dead battery
This morning went to the garage and found it w/ dead battery and the trunk lock buton must have been on. The key will not work and I can't get to the trunk to charge the battery. Any help??? 65K miles

have you looked in your handbook? it tells you what to do there.
if you aint got a handbook, do this;
open the drivers door with the key, then open up the bonnet (i think you guys call it the hood???)
inder the hood, there is a positive connection beside the fusebox, it has a little red cover over it. remove the cover,
you will need a surplus 12v dc car battery and jump leads.
connect the positive surplus battery lead to the positive connection inder the red cover.
then connect your negative lead to a good engine earth (ground) point to the surplus battery negative terminal.
when you have them connected up, go round to the boot (trunk???) and it will open without the key, just by the usual way.
good luck and get back how you got on.
ps; if anyone can correct me if im wrong, i believe i have described the connecting positive and negative in the correct order.

If you're connecting under the hood, it doesn't matter on an S80 because the battery is in the trunk. If you're connecting directly to the battery, always connect the positive lead to the battery first, then connect the negative lead to a good ground somewhere else (if possible). This is because the battery offgasses hydrogen during charging, which may create an explosive atmosphere that could be ignited by the spark from the connection of the second battery lead.
