SRS warning on 2002 V70 242 K miles

Post by ljsommar1 »

Had a weird occurrence happen yesterday. While driving, I lost all info from the DIM and a lot of other electrics were not working (driver side window switches, turn signals, inside lights...) no maintenance has been done for months. Got home, restarted the car and everything returned to normal except now I have an SRS warning displayed on the DIM which I cannot reset with my scan tool.
Checked for codes and found none.
I presume that I am going to have to get the SRS warning reset by someone with a better tool.

Anyone have any ideas?

Same intermittent Gremlin on a 2002 V70 XC with 88K miles. If I tap the dash or DIM some of the functions will return but go out again. I believe the DIM will require solder work. Not sure about the others yet.

fix the cause first, try a wiggle test on the connectors to the dash pc board.
if you pay to clear the srs it will come back when the fault repeats and you'll be out the money.
I would get a vida set up before paying to have codes cleared.

Well, no problems reappeared after multiple trips. So, I got the SRS warning reset. It cost me $30 plus tax which was not too bad I think.
He did a full scan and no other problems showed except it says wrong software for the drivers front seat module which my scan tool also showed. I suppose that happened when I took the seat out to bolster up the worn out bottom. The control for that seat only works for about 30 seconds after I put the key in position 2. I would guess it probably lost all its software. I can live with it , I never change seat position anyway.
