Won't 12v also do the job?

Yes, but 9 v battery is simple to connect at the injector.

. I think timing might be fine, but I may have an electrical gremlin.

I tested the injector at cyl 5 with a battery, it's ticking and thus working. I looked at fuses and relays but it turns out all injector fuses are shared with other components so they are fine.

The cable/plug for injector 5 reads normally and same as the rest. One wire is ground and is fine, the other reads open connection which is the same as the rest? So why isn't it firing?

Next I tested VVT harness cable, both pins/cables in the plug are reading 16 ohm resistance to ground(although the ground I use is the engine cam cover).

It would be nice if someone can confirm with intake VVT wiring harness if both cables should read 16 ohm resistance(I personally think they should not. But the injector cable is weird...why is it fine?
Ignore this, the wiring harness for VVT was fairly bad but I managed to fix it.

Addendum: I started getting P1176 codes, P0458 codes and the VVT/BIFUEL DFCO/PCV heater fuse(number 5 in the fuse box) is blowing. I unplugged the maf, the car didn't even register it was gone. No change in engine operation.
I then measured from the main thick 12v wire that is connected to the fuse box, to the GND of the engine e.g valve cover, there is a short there, but only when the ECM is powered on, weird.
