I hope you don't mind me coming in on an old thread but did you get this fixed?
I have a very similar sound with an xc70 T6. One garage has already replaced the top right mount but it had no effect on the noise.

Hi! As mentioned in my above post, your car doesn’t typically make noise due to a failed torque mount like the P2 chassis XC90s would with the same engine. On your car, it is most likely a collapsed engine mount underneath the torque mount you just replaced. Good luck!
Also, the previously mentioned 5344 Denso plugs are only good for 30k miles. On -2010 3.0 and 3.2 engines you can use NGK 6481 plugs to get 60k+ miles out of them. On the 2011+ models you want to use Bosch 9615 or Denso 4704 plugs. Or Volvo.

I just want to wrap my query up and point out that KLR142 was right - the engine mount beneath the torque rod was collapsed and the engine was clanging away on the metal.
As others here have pointed out, if you have one bad mount you definitely need to check the others. After replacement the car isn't just quieter, the transmission shifts are snappier and it seems to pull better.
One other thing, a 'wooshing' noise and lack of power has also been fixed. The turbocharger bypass valve had lost its zip. These two faults appeared at the same time and made the diagnosis a bit trickier.

Awesome write up, Pgill!
The pulling better/better power and possibly even part of the perception of better shifting are likely due to the turbocharger bypass valve repair. That’s great you got both items sorted and it’s running well again!XTC66 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 06:40 I just want to wrap my query up and point out that KLR142 was right - the engine mount beneath the torque rod was collapsed and the engine was clanging away on the metal.
