More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, many states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for March 24, 2024. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: North Dakota (0.080) with 309,545 cases, New York (0.079) with 7,578,045 cases, US Virgin Islands (0.069) with 26,148 cases, Wyoming (0.032) with 195,966 cases, and Maine (0.020) with 345,681 cases. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 275 of the last 294 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 491 of the last 536 days. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 67 of the last 67 days. Wyoming has been in the top 5 states for 64 of the last 69 days. Maine has been in the top 5 states for 10 of the last 13 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.000855 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00102. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 55 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 495 of last 783 days with decreasing active case numbers.

New Hospital admissions are reported by CDC as number of admissions per 100,000 of county population. Reported for March 16, 2024 were 3160 counties (98%) with less than 10 new admissions per 100,000 (low risk area). There were 53 counties (1.7%) with less 10 to 19.9 new admissions per 100,000 (medium risk area). There were 2 counties (0.06%) with more than 20 new admissions per 100,000 (high risk area). The number of High risk counties decreased from 9 to 2. It appears from my local review of this data, rural hospitals that serve multiple counties may be over counted as the same number of cases are applied to all counties served by the hospital. This is shown on the CDC map detail as several counties in an area with identical number of new cases reported for each county. I have observed that the number of counties with medium and high risk has dropped in the last 5 weeks. The total number of Covid-19 hospital admissions decreased 20.9% for the week.

In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. As of September 4, active cases were above 1,000,000. January 17, 2024 active cases rose to 1,167,209. Daily active case counts are now consistently below 1,000,000.

There have now been 111 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 33% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

This will be the last daily report on COVID-19 conditions in the US. Many states are not reporting and the number of cases are dropping at this time. I will continue to report the weekly COVID-19 hospitalizations as reported by the CDC.
This Pandemic resulted in nearly 112,000,000 cases reported and over 1,200,000 deaths since February 2020. It appears to have been reduced to a background illness that can still kill us.
I looked back at the early days of this thread. It is interesting to recall the confusion, anxiety, and mistakes of the first few weeks of the Pandemic as recorded here. I found that my first attempt at reporting Covid statistics was on March 25, 2020. I made daily reports for about 4 years. I hope this was useful to some others. It has been an anchor in be own life to watch and report the trends I saw.

State growth rates for March 29, 2024. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: New York (0.081) with 7,580,725 cases, North Dakota (0.062) with 309,706 cases, Wyoming (0.040) with 196,003 cases, Minnesota (0.019) with 1,899,284 cases, and Maine (0.019) with 345,887 cases. New York has been in the top 5 states for 496 of the last 541 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 280 of the last 299 days. Wyoming has been in the top 5 states for 69 of the last 74 days. Maine has been in the top 5 states for 14 of the last 18 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00131 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00221. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 52 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 500 of last 788 days with decreasing active case numbers.

New Hospital admissions for Covid-19 are reported by CDC as number of admissions per 100,000 of county population. Reported for March 23, 2024 were 3173 counties (99%) with less than 10 new admissions per 100,000 (low risk area). There were 40 counties (1.2%) with less 10 to 19.9 new admissions per 100,000 (medium risk area). There were 3 counties (0.09%) with more than 20 new admissions per 100,000 (high risk area). The number of High risk counties increased from 2 to 3. The total number of Covid-19 hospital admissions decreased 13.9% for the week.

In early August, the number of reported active cases had dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021. As of September 4, active cases were above 1,000,000. January 17, 2024 active cases rose to 1,167,209. Daily active case counts are now consistently below 900,000.

There have now been 111 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 33% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

March 30, 2024 was my last daily report on COVID-19 conditions in the US.

The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, many states and territories have not reported results.
New Hospital admissions for Covid-19 are reported by CDC as number of admissions per 100,000 of county population. Reported for March 30, 2024 were 3194 counties (99%) with less than 10 new admissions per 100,000 (low risk area). There were 20 counties (0.62%) with less 10 to 19.9 new admissions per 100,000 (medium risk area). There were 3 counties (0.09%) with more than 20 new admissions per 100,000 (high risk area). The number of High risk counties were unchanged at 3. The number of Covid-19 hospital admissions dropped 8 of the last 9 weeks.

My wife had Covid two weeks ago, hit her pretty hard and was down for almost a week. Nurse at clinic said they’ve seen an uptick in Covid and the flu.
