I took my car to the local non-dealer Volvo specialist today. They did some diagnosis and found a couple of things:

* There was a missing fuse that was related to the belt buckles. They replaced it with one of my spares.
* Even after replacing the fuse and resetting the computer, they were not able to clear the airbag codes. They said that whenever the fuse was pulled, it put the SRS control module into a permanent fault state and that the module would have to be replaced.

I have the car back and am currently looking at options. Seems like the cheapest would be to pull one from a junkyard car.

Rehearse the removal, that way you have the correct tools in your junkyard bag, suggest going before the next storm that could hit thurs pm.
I think that module is in the center console, not hard to get at.

Alright... I swapped the module out with one from the junkyard, but I’ve still got the srs-airbag service urgent message... will the codes need to be reset again or is there another reason it didn’t work...

I don't think SRS ever resets itself, and a battery disconnect won't work, like it does for an ECU code.

pRw...you might guess my travel plans are on hold for BOS...sorry. Good luck in the 'Nor-easter'

Alright... ordered a DiCE from Amazon. Scheduled to arrive Wednesday. This had better be worth it.

Woohoo! Got the DiCE unit, got VIDA/DiCE working thanks to some assistance from RickHaleParker, erased the codes, SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT message is gone, and the car passed inspection this morning!

To summarize the problem and the solution:

Symptoms:
- SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT message displayed in Driver Information Module.
- Fault codes CEM-2FA2 CEM-2FA5 SRS-00D0 SRS-00D1 stored in onboard computer. All codes were related to left and right passenger seat belt buckle missing/low signals.

Root Cause:
#14 fuse in passenger compartment was pulled without first disconnecting the battery negative terminal. This fuse serviced the seat belt system, and removing it tripped the SRS system into a fault condition.

Solution:
1. Replace #14 fuse (verify the fuse number on your car, the one for seat belts may be different.
2. Remove and replace SRS Control Module, located underneath the center console. Make sure to disconnect battery first. For a replacement, I pulled a SRS Control Module from a similar model in a junkyard.
3. Using VIDA/DiCE, clear all codes.

Thanks everyone for the help working through this one!

Glad you got it sorted.

So, I just had this experience with my 2007 S60.

Replaced the mirror to manual (instead of auto-dim that leaks), I d/c'd the battery in the trunk.
Not sure what the cause is but the "Pass Airbag Off, Urgent Service Required" light is ON.

It took multiple attempts to turn it off, the key thing is: be patient!

My experience:
- Since most of us use the VIDA as Chinese clone, it is a bit temperamental...
- I hook up a battery charger, and set it at 12V 2A bc once you turn the key to position II,
the HL is on, you can switch the HL switch to "Parking" position to avoid draining battery.
Just remember to switch it back to your regular HL switch setting later.

- Check the function of the DICE connecting cable via VIDA.
This is an often overlooked item.

- I used "Erase All" but the message keeps coming back. I even used "Erase CEM" first, then
"Erase All" etc.
- Drove the car to work for a few cycles.

- Next day used VIDA again, d/c battery for 5 min, then reconnected battery.
- Then used VIDA again, and only after 10 more tries to erase, the "Pass Airbag Off, Urgent Service Required"
light finally went away.

So...be patient, don't quit!!!

Also, someone wrote in forum in the past that it is important to keep the Voltage above 12V when using VIDA. This is why I hooked up a battery charger.
