installed a new passenger side fronty fender, removed wheel for ease and found fairly new tire is bald on the inside.
I don't think it has more than 1000 miles on it and its fairly well shot.
They had tried to do an alignment 8 months ago but noted on the work order they were unable to align it, no explanation.
It also noted the drop links needed changing...I had new ones so I did it myself, the old ones I removed were bent.
i just set up jackstands with string front and read, measured parallel to wheel centers, both sides of car,
front wheels on cardboard and steering wheel straight.
measured wheel rim to string at rear edge 7/8" .
but front of rim to string is closer to 1 and 1/2".... !
scrub much ? , i only measured for reference it was so far off i could see the huge difference.
the other side of car is very close, maybe 1/16" toe in.
tues morning i'll raise th car and make the adjustment,
does anyone know how many rotations of the tie rod end i need to add.
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

whilst i was setting the car up to measure wheel alignment with string i noticed the steering was chunky and jumpy, had my wife turn the wheel while i watched, the top of the strut is grinding, i had initially thought the cv shaft was gone but its the strut top bearing.
fcp only has the volvo oem bearing at $225.
ipd has an aft MKT bearing at $24. No brainer.
since i installed my lift i can't keep up with the problems i'm finding.
also found oil dripping off the oil cooler .
but the bottom of the oil pan is wet with oil, its coming down from the front of the block...front as in the radiator side.
i'm thinking its the oil dipstick tube lower seal, i had it out to swap the rad and re-used the old O ring.
power steering lines are leaking too.

1000 miles, that’s a shame.
Yeah, I’d say toe is way out or camber is way negative, but that’s not likely.
I’ve got some odd new (minor) leaks as well.

There are a few items that could possible be at fault and before throwing money at it I need to find the cause.
1.Sticking caliper: After testing yesterday I don't feel this is at fault
2. Sticking hand brake cable. It is a possibility but, I use the handbrake all the time and it works perfectly.
3. Collapsed flexi-hose, no way to confirm so need to monitor the situation
4. Sticking ABS valve, need to connect Vida and check for any faults but nothing showing on the OBC

Today I decided to change the strut mount and strut bearing on the driver side. Upon disassembling the strut, it's completely dead. It literally cannot stay up and falls back down by itself.
As soon as I get my new passenger side LCA bushings and fit them in, I will order some replacement struts(not from Volvo as we are looking at hundreds of dollars there for one).
One other problem I have is that last year after my head gasket repair, I did not use the Volvo specific anaerobic sealant and didn't apply it properly and have quite a few serious cam cover leaks. Some have developed near the cam pulleys and drips down below, and this may cause my belt to slip if any gets on the water pump or crank pulley.

i did some mods and it went from 1/2 " toe in to 1/4 inch toe out....its closer.
still can't get the jam nut to move, tried mapp gas until the rubber bellow started smoking and it still wont play.
This is war...i might just split the lock nut and get a new nut.
for the meantime i chopped 3/16" off the end of the tie rod, that moves it inward...a shade too much hence the excess toe out now, i can put a washer against the lock nut to acheive proper toe in but would prefer a functioning lock nut for more accurate tweaking.
test drove it and it doesn't pull as bad, its ok for now.

Just did the pressure line on my kids 02 S60, was leaking at the crimps. Wasn’t too bad if you pay close attention to routing as it comes out to put new back in same way. I found a crows foot socket to work best on the rack fitting. $48 Amazon unit is working well, did not come with o-rings so Harbor Freight kit worked well there. Should be a pice of cake on a lift!

Today I ordered Lubeguard Platinum, because their sales rep assured me that Platinum > Black and still has a HFM supplement. But reading online it might be less strong than Black. Did the sales rep not know any better?
Let's hope the Lubeguard official sales rep knew what he was talking about. Curious about vtl's input on this.
The reason for me buying it, is increased firm shifts compared to when I first got the car including the shifts being slower(solenoids *are* sticking more causing my car to be in the torque limit control state too long), more heat generated compared to last summer from just going uphill for 500m or less. TCC slip in certain conditions. I don't expect miracles, just more time and miles from the transmission.
Remember, fluid is Mannol 3309, with cSt < 7 @ standard measurement temperatures.

just adjusted the tie rod length by adding a thin washer in front of the lock nut, assembled everything, dropped it on the floor and I now have 1/16th " toe in, I'm calling it a win,
It test drove straight as an arrow.
on to the next problem.
