Hi…question for all…anyone experience this…when stopping suddenly or hard (moderately) the CEL illuminates and sets an ECM-430D (Definition: Leak Diagnostic. Small Leak
Description: EVAP canister shut-off valve is shut, canister purge (CP) valve is pulsed. When a predetermined negative pressure is reached in the fuel tank the canister purge (CP) valve is closed. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-430D is stored if the negative pressure in the fuel tank falls too quickly during a certain amount of time.
Cause: leaking fuel tank, filler pipe, fuel tank filler cap, EVAP canister, EVAP canister shut-off valve or lines between these components.)

I clear the code and all is well, until another braking situation.

Thoughts? Bad evap valve?

Or something is loose and when you brake it opens up a split pipe?

Check your fuel cap in case it is loose or the seal has split. Also check for damage around the filler neck. You can just buy replacement fuel cap seals from Volvo or aftermarket. Can't speak to the quality of the aftermarket parts.

After that smoking the system is usually by far the quickest way to track emissions leaks.
