Swapped '05 S60R seats into my '06 XC70. Can I bypass the OWS on the passenger seat?

Post by Tumbler510 »

I did a full S60R swap on my XC70, including the front seats. I noticed that the S60R passenger seat did not have a loose connector to plug into the connector from the floor. I checked the OEM seat from the XC70, and it had a sensor in it. The code SRS-DD10 shows up on VIDA (SRS-DD10 communication control module. faulty communication.)

I am fine having the passenger seat showing always as occupied since this is a fun car that will almost exclusively be used with friends and never a baby seat or anything else.

Can I snag the connector and some leads off a junkyard car and short the wires together to get rid of the code? Is there an additional module I need to reinstall?

Picture of connector from floor of XC70 with nowhere to connect to on the S60R seat:

I would pull the module from the XC70 seat and plug it in, then zip tie in place.

You will need to actively clear the SRS code, it won’t self correct. VIDA or dealer

Thanks for the reply, but I am a bit confused by the wording here. Are you saying without the sensor plugged in I will constantly have the code and will have to clear it using VIDA or a dealer?
OR
If I install an OEM weight sensor and zip tie it under the seat, it will throw codes and will have to clear it using VIDA or a dealer?

I am not sure how hard it is to remove an OWS from a seat, but I can give it a try.
