How do I know which transmission my 07 XC70 has?

I've seen some saying they have AISIN transmission on their cars while others state they have an TF-80SC.
I looked up the car's VIN but I didn't see the specific transmission type besides 5 speed automatic.
The car, with 250,000 kms should be due for a transmission fluid change, as the previous owner who had it 4 years before i bought it two months ago said he didn't think the fluid had ever been changed since it's a "lifetime" fluid...

If you have an 07 Ps XC70, you have an Aisin trans. If you have an 08 XC70 you have the TC-80SC.

Check this link to Volvo of Toronto. You will see that for a 2007 XC70 the trans is an AW 50/51 trans.

The TF-80SC is an Aisin Transmission model number - Aisin is the name of a transmission manufacturer - Like Volvo is the name of an Auto manufacturer.

I think what you are trying to find out is the model number of the transmission in your 2007 XC70.

I am assuming it has an Automatic Transm.

From a quick search I get the following 2 possibilities:

5-speed Aisin AW55-50/51SN
OR
6-speed Aisin TF-80SC

Well apparently, for the 5 speed it's always JWS 3309, for the TF-80SC between when it was released to 2010 its still 3309, but after 2010 or 2011 it's now a different lower viscosity fluid called AW-1.

Mobil 3309 (“JWS3309”) in the correct fluid; dikidera is correct. Also Toyota T-IV or GM T-IV (exact same thing; re-branded). There are many 3309 knock-off fluids at this point (Idemitsu, Ravenol, etc., etc.). But the original Mobil 3309 is cheap enough and widely available, too.

2004 was the last year of the 5-speed. 6-speed models 2005-2007. No difference in fluid used (yet).

I saw 3309 for $5.70/qt at RockAuto a week ago. Someone said Amazon had a good price, too. Toyota (Not lexus) parts departments often will give a decent discount on a case if you chat them up. Service your PS system at the same time (same fluid, same basic procedure). A dose of Lubegard AT additive is very wise.

OK. So were any P2 XC70's ever fitted with a TF-80SC in North America? NO!! If you have a P3 2008 or newer you will have a 6 speed TF-80SC.

As stated, the fluid for AW50/51, is 3309 spec oil.

...Make sure to NOT use a multivehicle Fluid - i.e. A fluid that replaces multiple types of ATF - such as "AMSOIL SIGNATURE SERIES MULTI-VEHICLE " as an example.

The Mobil 3309 as mentioned by Oro is a good choice. I have used it in the past. I use the Aisin ATF these days...

Perhaps the earlier years XC70 use ATF but I'd check it carefully first.

I don’t have an 06 manual around (only up to 04 in that vintage). That manual states Pentosin OR equivalent. And any decent ATF is a fluid equivalent, and preferably a non-LV one, so something like DexIII-H or T-IV/3309.

Pentosin is a not a magical substance, it’s a relatively common hydraulic fluid. It is uniquely weak in its base oil and heavily loaded with VIIs to give it extreme low-temp pumpability. I believe the big switch between 11 and 202 was to a PAO base oil (akin to Mobil 1 PS fluid - which would also be a direct substitute). If you live where it is routinely less than -30F, it makes sense to stick with it. If not, feel free to use a more robust fluid for better rack and pump life.

Porsche in particular has a TSB stating that ATF is miscible with Pentosin; owners note much easier steering effort when switching. Audi fans routinely dump the Pentosin and replace it with DexIII-H in order to prolong rack and pump life.
