My 2000 s70 has winter mode, and my parts car has E,S,W modes
Just wondering if the 2000 s70 volvo is prewired for the different modes and if I took the shifter and e,s,w cover/switches from parts car, if it would actually drive differently(higher revs in sports mode etc.) Not really a big deal but I was wondering if they were pre wired for it or not.

The 2000 70 series turbos still had the 4 speed as far as I know. The only real difference between the economy and sport modes is the shift point mapping but it doesn't change the final gear ratio at all. The economy mode tends to upshift sooner than it does in sport. I'm not sure which mode is default but they aren't dramatically different. On my '99 XC it had no W mode which I guess is fine since it is AWD.

He didn't mentioned is it turbo or not,but if it's non turbo it can be only 5 speed auto.
2000 was the year when new 5 speed adaptive shift-logic auto transmission was introduced and it was only available on non turbo models fwd models:

Hmm, guess Wikipedia needs to be re-written. My 2000 V70R AWD has a 5 speed auto, and so did the one I pulled a spare trans from at PnP.
Correct on the non-turbo FWD, as my 2000 V70 NA base has a 5-speed auto also. I have suspicions some late V70XC's may also have had a 5 speed auto, but I'm definitely not sure about that!
Oh, and the 2000 V70R also has Winter mode.

It's a turbo....then...4 speed auto is correct unit.
