What is SAS?
(Luckily I didn't have this issue and I hope I'm not waking the demons)
It is mentioned often but I haven't seen a definition.
Searching "SAS Volvo" gets a bunch of results including the cool SAS delete vian diode placement but no definition.
Searching "SAS car" gets things like
Steering angle sensor
Steering and suspension
Solid axle swap (Toyota truck forum)
Also, is there a topic on here that carries the acronym definitions often used on this site? Like SAS and RMS etc.?
What is SAS?

ooh, ooh, I know this one!
Secondary Air System. It's an air pump ("smog pump") setup, introduced in the 90's, shipped on some cars but not on others of otherwise exact same vintage and specs. Abandoned by 99 when Volvo went to VVT cam hubs to achieve the same objective. Air pump is expensive to replace and fails after not too many years due to poor design of a check valve on the exhaust side, system is a PITA to maintain and adds extra crap under the hood, many chose to delete it rather than keep it running.

Look for the space ship behind the cylinder head with some pipes attached to the exhaust manifold, a hard rubber pipe to the air cleaner
