Turned the Drl’s off, it’s something I tried to ignore because I thought it would be a big endeavor. I found out about that little screw next to the light switch, so awesome of Volvo to do that.

Unfortunately, my screwdriver was a bit big and I didn’t walk the hundred feet to get a smaller one so I buggered the hole a bit. Oh well it blends in with all the other imperfections.

I do love that they did it that way. I don't like DRLs when they're nothing more than the regular low beams.

Hmm, this looks suspect. Brief research shows there isn't a gasket for P80s here but later cars do have a gasket. Has anyone adapted one before?

Last night I got the oil pan back into the car and bolts torqued. Very tricky to get the pan in without smudging the sealant, and I didn't like how far over I had to pull the power steering lines.

Also had a fight with the AWD engine mount.

Not sure this is going to be the issue. It was original to the car, but I read about adjusting the positioning of the bracket on the threaded rod changing vibration, and I remember when I put the top torque mount in, I had to jack the engine up on the transmission side to get the bolt in. But there was no way I could have adjusted it in the car with the amount of violence it took to get the retaining nut off the old mount.

Sorry, having difficulty orientating myself to the first picture. Is it the exhaust manifold?

That is looking up at the back of the engine as if your head was on the passenger side and feet dangling out from under the drivers side. That's the flange from the turbo to the downpipe.

There should be a gasket from what I can see on a parts drawing. However, it looks like it is NLA:

This is the muffler parts drawing for a 98 turbo engine:

https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/a/ ... 69044.html

You may have to try for aftermarket suppliers for down pipes to get a suitable gasket or a muffler shop possibly?

Interesting, for the AWD it shows no gasket there. But it does show a gasket between the turbo and exhaust manifold, which I had the understanding did not have a gasket. Trying to look for leaks between turbo and downpipe or residue doesn't produce many results, but does show many results for leaks between the turbo and exhaust manifold.

There is a thin metal gasket there. Probably aftermarket only. I will look in my stash at home in a few days.

Fact check ? Might be bad info above.

Unless it is a cup and ball design on the muffler there, it will need a gasket. As you may know, the joint behind the cat to the rear muffler pipe had that type of joint.

Sorry, did not pick up it was an AWD car, although you do mention it and it has an AWD trans mount! D'oh!

Meh I should also drop the pan... is it possible to sneak in new rod bearings at the same time? I have seen people on yt do this on other cars just with the pan removed.

Anything else that you should do at the same time? engine mounts maybe?
