Seat skin replacement 2003 XC70

I recently changed this seat back skin on the drivers side with a mint passenger’s side skin from the auto wreckers. I realize now that I should have done a tutorial on it because I’ve done both seats before, backs and bases. The side bolsters usually wear out on these seats and the bases split the stitching. Seat skins are usually around $25 for a full seat whereas if you buy the whole seat it’s about 70-80$, additionally it might be impossible to change the bases or backs with the foam on these seats as a unit. Changing the skins takes about 2 hours per seat. You don’t need hogrings, just small clear zipties. Also you can remove skins at the auto wreckers successfully without removing the seat. Putting a passenger back skin on the driver’s side will leave a small hole for the lumbar knob exposed, I back patch this with a piece from the old skin, it hides well behind the seat belt and nobody will notice.

Very timely! This afternoon wife and kid were going out and I decided to tag along at the last minute. First time riding in the second row captain chair of the 03 Odyssey now having owned it for almost 100K miles. Was extremely firm, supportive and comfortable I said. Kid said they are the same as the fronts. A cushion swap maybe in the near future with the driver's seat

My dad had an '05 Odyssey, incredibly good seats front and back. Unfortunately I don't think you can do a cushion swap on these P-2 Volvo seats without disassembling the entire seat, that was my plan when I replaced skins the first time and I abandoned it. It looks very complicated and maybe.......impossible. Skins are pretty easy to do!

Our 07 S60 in need of a turbo 2.5T has cloth seats. Decided to see how difficult it is to remove the rear cushion cover for cleaning as it was the dirtiest also. So many hog ring and as with my many projects the cover is still off. I think I would just replace the entire front seat if I ever needed to replace the skin.
